Ice Skates – Which Are Best For You?

If you want to buy ice skates it would really be advisable to physically go into a specialist store and try them on in the store. It is very hard to get the exact fit and comfortability online.

There are so many things that determine which skates you should purchase. Your height and weight, whether they are to be used for figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating or whatever, the level of expertise you have, the amount of money you have available to spend, the colour, the shape, the material they are made of etc. So many variables to consider.

Even if you know the brand and style you want, all boots are not made equal. One pair of size 10’s is not necessarily the same as another pair of size 10’s from the same manufacturer. Although they probably come from the same cutting machine and are sewn the same way, or if they are plastic or acrylic then they could be moulded the same, there is often a slight difference between two pairs that could be all the difference between a comfortable and successful sport or not.

A beginner would definitely not wear the same skates as a professional. A person weighing 180 pounds would not wear the same skates as another weighing 250 pounds. The runners, or blades, that are the part that touches the ice, are also such a variable that it is nearly impossible to tell you the differences on one page.
